Identification
POWERED BY MERLIN
A small tanager with navy blue plumage, a brilliant golden eye, and a hooked bill. It ranges in cloud forest along the east slope of the Andes and at lower elevations than other flowerpiercers (none of which have a golden eye). It is less dependent on nectar than other flowerpiercers, consuming mostly insects and berries. Frequently joins mixed-species flocks.
